SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!!

On the 18 march, Saint Patrick's day My classmates and I
Made play-dough in the classroom.

We mixed all the dry ingredients together and then the wet ingredients including the boiling hot water.

We then added the  food coloring and mixed it with a knife to cut through the hot play-dough. We all got our hands dirty when we kneaded the dough together.

We made an obstacle course with the play-dough and were given straws and polystyrene balls to blow around the course.  We had races with the balls.

I loved making play-dough with my friends  because it makes me feel like I was five years old again.  It was really fun when we were mixing the play-dough into actually dough. I had fun making play-dough.

  1. Hi Hope it is Phoebe from Karoro School Greymouth. Reading this made me remember when we dressed in green for Saint Patrick's day and we had best dressed competition and my brother won from his class. I think mainly because he had a green afro. BYE.

  2. Kia Ora Hope it is Lincon from Karoro School,Greymouth. I really enjoyed reading about you making playdough on Saint Patrick's Day. It reminded me when it was my birthday at preschool and they made me a playdough muffin and the teachers put candles in the playdough muffin and I got to blow the candles out. But that was ages ago and I haven't played with playdough in a long time.

I just want to know what were the dry ingredients you used to make the muffin because I have never made playdough before. I would also like to know what colours did you use? I saw green playdough in the photo but did anybody use a different colour?

In the photo you all look really happy and you are having a good time. A question for you is how did you go when you raced your polystyrene ball on the play dough obstacle course? It would have been good to have seen some photos or a video of that.

  3. Kia ora Hope.
This is Sasha here from Karoro School in Greymouth. I really enjoyed reading about what you did on Saint Patrick's Day. I like how you made your playdough green for saint Patrick’s Day. I remember for Saint Patrick’s Day two years ago we all dressed up in green.

It sounds like you had a lot of fun making playdough and having races with polystyrene balls. I always played with playdough when I was younger. I have never tried to get through an obstacle course with polystyrene balls and a straw. Were you successful at getting the polystyrene balls through the coarse?

Next time you could put in some information about Saint Patrick’s Day. I like how you explained one step but next time you could write out all the steps it took to make the playdough. You can go to this link to look at my blog. http://karorosashae.blogspot.com/

  4. Kia Ora Hope,
It is Grace here, I am a year 8 from Karoro School in Greymouth. I liked how you explained how you made the playdough. I really enjoyed reading about how you celebrated St Patrick's Day. It looked like you had a great day, and had fun playing with your friends.

My class didn’t race polystyrene balls but we did race cross country.

Next time you you could explain or show people how to make play dough from scratch and show all the ingredients that you need. I use to love playing with play dough and making a course out of it would be even funner. I’d like to give it a go and see if it works! I also like how you coloured the playdough green for Saint Patrick's Day.

Were you able to get the polystyrene balls through your course? Did you race against just your friends or the whole class?
