Blog Profile 2019!

Kia Ora my name is Hope, I am attending Saint Patrick's School as a yr 8 Student. I am made up of many different cultures such as Samoan, Fijian and more! I am 1 of 9 children and very busy, although in my free time i enjoy to swim
Me as a learner, I love to get stuck behind a Roald Dahl book, in Wood hill Forest. I also hope to achieve knowing all of my times tables and succeed in learning a different language.

Im looking forward to the Challenges Im going to face this year, I thrive to reach my learning goal towards my maths and inspired to do that by my Teacher this year I hope to be creative through my blog posts and to be connected with others.




Matariki!

What is Matariki? 
Matariki is the moari name for the seven sisters, Matariki usually starts around June - July this year it will matariki will be appearing on the 25 June, next year it will occur on the 13 july.
Matariki arises on differently every year.

Name the Stars?
Matariki means seven sisters titled the seven stars each star has a name being: 
Tupu -A- Nuku (Earth Tohunga), Ururangi (Entry to the Heavens), Waitā (Sprinkle Of Water), Waitī (Sweet Water), Waipuna-ā-rangi (Sky Spring), Tupu-ā-Rangi (Sky Tohunga) and  Matariki (Eyes Of Tāwhirimātea) 


How do people celebrate Matariki?
People celebrate Matariki by lighting fireworks, cooking traditional Moari vegetables, Play Exciting games and getting involved with community activities such as Going to the glow show or Trees for kiwi babies which they will plant 500 native trees in support of kiwi babies and generation, the event was sponsored by prime minister Jacinda Ardern in honour of Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s  baby, Achie.
